Audition Program Requirements
An audition will consist of a diversified repertoire to be performed from memory. The repertoire must demonstrate technique, style, command of language (for voice auditions), interpretation, and stage presence.
Voice:
Two arias in different languages (not English)
An art song in a third language (not English)
A contemporary piece in English by an American or British composer
Note: A selection from an oratorio is optional, but cannot be offered in place of an opera aria.
Strings:
A representative work of JS Bach
A complete sonata from the Classical period
A selection representative of the Romantic or Impressionistic period
A selection representative of the Contemporary period
Note: you may use sheet music for a selection from a sonata.
Piano:
A Bach Prelude and Fugue, or at least 4 movements from any of the Bach suites
A complete sonata from the Classical period
A complete work from the Romantic or Impressionistic period
A representative work of the Contemporary period
Note for all selections: no repeats, please.
Other instruments:
A selection representative of each of four periods:
Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Impressionistic, and Contemporary.
