Our Members

The American Opera Society of Chicago is a 501(c)(3) non-profit membership organization, whose primary mission is to provide monetary assistance to young United States artists in the Chicago area, through annual scholarship grants. We are currently offering over $35,000 annually in scholarships to young singers and instrumentalists. These scholarships are funded entirely from members’ donations.

Scholarship winners perform concerts for our members in an intimate and elegant setting.

In addition to these concert experiences, members are invited to a Holiday Celebration, as well as other events throughout the season.

To become a member, you must be invited to join by a current member, and approved by the Board of Directors. If you do not know a current member, please contact us and our Membership Chair will reach out to you.

As one member wrote: “[In Chicago] we have access to an abundance of young talent, varied performance venues, and excellent production companies, giving us an opera experience that is, indeed, comparable to the Big Apple. I feel good being a part of AOSC, an organization which helps to promote the quality of Chicago opera by supporting young talent. Bravo AOSC!”
